Charitable way

Jill Wood (writing on behalf of Third Sector Yes, Letters, 12 September) must have a very poor opinion of the people of Scotland if she thinks that the only way they will help people less fortunate than themselves is by disrupting the whole of Britain with a referendum to get a Yes vote.

I think a great deal more
of British people, especially
because when asked for contributions for a disaster in some other country we top most countries.

It is well within the powers of the Scottish Government to lead by example and ask the top earners for 1p in the pound on tax or to put it on VAT for wine or such unnecessary
thing explaining that this goes to Ms Wood’s or some other charity.

The small countries she takes as her model all pay very high taxes.
