Cancer risks

You quote the latest NHS report which forecasts that a third of Scots will be diagnosed with cancer during their lifetime (your report, 31 August). I suggest the NHS should offer a new policy to all women patients under 50 and men under 60, after they agree to have no more children and take up the offer of a £300 cash reward, paid into a Credit Union Account after hysterectomy or vasectomy. It costs the state £50,000 on each child up to the age of 16, so it is likely that some of these costs would be avoided, making huge savings.

Within the next five years I would expect to see reduced rates of all types of cancer.
