Ah, I get it! 20 September is the new 1 April. That’s the only thing that can explain the illustrations to your “Space oddities” article (20 September).

The three photographs of alleged “alien” life forms are in fact Casper the Happy Ghost, a potato crisp abandoned in the Grassmarket and somebody else’s shirt pictured on the washing line by night. What next? All-dog-walker shortlists for parliamentary seats, in order to make sure that dog lovers are adequately represented?
