Called to account

Bill Jamieson (Perspective, 21 February) asks if a central bank is worth the money. The only rational answer to this legitimate question is: no, it is not.

Central banks exist solely to inflate the currency and fund big government, and that has been their historic function. Indeed, central banks are a key plank of the Communist manifesto.

A free banking system is morally and practically sound and prevents the state from intervening in the currency to create class war and bolster its own power base.

If Scotland does become independent, the country would do very well to follow this course of action.
