Budget benefit

I wonder how much of the proposed £9 billion budget for new Scottish infrastructure (your report, 22 September) will be spent on Scottish-based companies, architects, designers, engineers and builders.

The argument that it will create growth at home is undermined by European directives which inhibit our governments, enterprise agencies and councils from investing in our own companies and people.

Or will it go to Spanish architects and German engineering companies as in our recent past?

But then at least our lawyers and mediators may benefit financially, under our protected legal system.
