Brown legacy

I FEEL sure Lesley Riddoch's article (Comment, 26 July) was written with tongue firmly in cheek, but in case anyone took her adoring words seriously let's remind ourselves what her beloved Gordon Brown did for our country.

By stealth he taxed us to the hilt and stupidly sold our gold reserves for a pittance. He wasted the lot and when the bird came home to roost he blamed everyone except himself for the bare cupboard down at the Treasury.

He left this country in a sorry, crippled financial condition.

I doubt there are many who want to hear how Gordon Brown misses having his bitten fingernails on the levers of power.
