Brighter stories

Your leader, “Scottish Baftas all glaur and greeting” (18 October) is well observed.

Recent Scottish drama and literature seems obsessed with the myth of the downtrodden worker. Those of us who have worked in Scottish factories and lived among workers know there are brighter stories to be told between the kailyard and the gutter. But Scottish publishers and literary agents don’t want to read them. They seem afraid of goodness.
