Bright idea

Interesting to read the item about the Princess Royal arriving in South Queensferry on Tuesday to relight the Harbour Light Tower lamp (your report, 23 June). Such a pity she did not switch off the 50 street lamps in the area from around the Forth Road Bridge to the entrance to Hopetoun House, which have been burning continuously for the past 18 months.
