Bridge traffic
The argument between the two residents' groups about how to divide Forth traffic between the present bridge and a proposed new one (your report, 3 March) reads like a wee Aesop's fable, of two flocks of sheep arguing about whether it is better to be stewed or kebabbed.
There is, of course, the general argument that – if we did have several billion to invest in infrastructure – a second road bridge, to supplement the repaired existing one, would bring the least benefit and cause the most long-term damage. But on the narrowest grounds, of these communities' self-interest, they would both suffer, whatever the detail.
