I would be intrigued to learn how much it cost for scientists to reach the astonishing conclusion that you need a brain to understand what your ears hear (your report, 15 March). How many thousands more did it take to discover that one ear is not as good as two, which you can verify for free in seconds by sticking your finger in one?
