Borders business

I would not agree with Jeremy Purvis's comments that John Lamont is driving a wedge in the region (your report, 10 July).

John is saying what many others in the Borders are thinking.

What benefits is the train going to bring to the Borders? For a large majority of people it will not be the most efficient way of reaching Edinburgh.

Surely money could be spent on upgrading our less than adequate road network.

In the current recession is this truly the best way to spend 300m?
