Bonus points

Peter Hain claims he wants the bankers to explain the bonuses (your report, 26 February).

The whole capital sales industry works on a bonus system which is quite divorced from the profitability of the company. The trick is to have the bonus structure meet the overall objectives of the company. Countless companies operate in a bonus culture which drives them forward.

RBS seems to have cleared out the useless management but it needs to retain creative earners (sales people)
