Readers may be interested to know that these payments were made under TUPE (transfer of undertakings, protection of employment) terms, which means that the new employer takes over an employee’s employment contract. Nine RoS staff transferred to the organisation from a private sector business, so RoS therefore had a legal obligation to honour the payment of bonuses agreed in the employees’ previous contracts.
No other staff received bonus or performance-related payments.
