Blinded by cash

True benefactors provide what is needed, not what they desire to give.

We know Sir Ian Wood (who has offered to invest 50 million in a proposed 140m civil square development in Aberdeen, (report, 21 April)] has the funds, but he seems to lack the foresight, altruism, understanding or taste of a Carnegie or a Dundas.

We can but hope that the City Council of Aberdeen has the wisdom and courage to stand up and vote for what is best for its city rather than for the ego of one man, however rich.
