Blair distilled

Eddie Barnes (Platform, 18 August) distils Tony Blair's probable dishonesty down to "people felt betrayed when all he said was not as it seemed"; these people are then described as having "Blairophobia".

If this phobia means not wanting hundreds of our soldiers and countless Iraqi civilians dying in an illegal war, then count me in.

If Blair's contribution of the proceeds from his book are solely as a token of the "responsibility" he feels to "the troops he admires", why did he not give anonymously like the rest of us?

Mr Barnes defines Blair perfectly when he writes about "guilty conscience" — "it seems clear Mr Blair doesn't have one".

Most tellingly, "He won't, because he doesn't believe he is" — wrong, that is! This explains why Blair is indifferent to the reaction to his gross miscalculation.
