Beyond support

I was surprised to read that an Additional Support Needs
Tribunal has decided that it would be “reasonable” for North Lanarkshire Council to recruit support staff who would have a responsibility for administering insulin (your report, 10 July).

Surely the support necessary must be medical, or a parent. Any non-medical support staff involved would carry the great burden of knowing that in a case of error, they would be accused of causing harm. No worker in a school should be expected to put themselves in that position.
