Behind bars

Clark Cross’s ridiculous and ignorant letter (28 January) about women in prison annoyed me.

He suggests that the Scottish Government’s decision not to go ahead with a women’s super-prison proves that women are treated more favourably than men.

Mr Cross: most women are not in prison for violent offences and, as Joe Neilson ( view) points out, “behaviour that lands them there is related to mental health issues and usually has its roots in male abuse”.
