BBC values

The BBC may remain “exceptional value at £145.50 per year” to Stephen McGinty (Perspective, 10 May), but it is worse than poor value for me.

The BBC’s endemic and deep-rooted secular progressive/
liberal cultural bias means that I don’t want to watch much of its output and, as a matter of principle, I refuse to contribute financially to an institution that undermines many of my values.

That would be fair enough if I could just take my business elsewhere, but I am prevented from watching all other television channels because I don’t want to pay for BBC services.

The technology to implement pay as you view and subscription channels is now well established, so the BBC could easily join the market along with the rest, instead of enjoying automatic dominance and using it to tirelessly promote its own ideology.
