Bank jobs are safe

In SPITE of disagreeing with his politics, I have always believed that Alistair Darling was an honourable man. What has changed my opinion is his recent interviews in which he continued to claim the banks were “taking their business out of Scotland”. This in spite of the fact all the banks involved have made it quite clear that banking jobs in Scotland were not at risk.

In the event of a Yes vote, some have made plans to move their place of registration to London for legal reasons. Yet Alistair Darling has no compunction in causing needless anxiety to hundreds of bank workers in Scotland for no good reason but to score an untruthful political point. Not only that but he threatens future financial industry jobs that may come to Scotland, whatever the result, by causing this uncertainty.

Presumably, the only job he is interested in protecting is his own.
