Balanced view

At last, a seemingly informed report that begins to tell us of the impact of possible independence (your report, 24 June).

The Scotland Institute report on Defence and Security in an Independent Scotland is seemingly balanced (for example, it has various SNP spokespeople within its list of contributors) and impresses with its list of 
expert contributors.

We have become so used to the Scottish Government 
scouring the world to find one expert who is prepared to 
support its view.

Can we have more reports like this? It would help to inform the electorate.

How sad that the report’s one SNP MP contributor sees 
fit to doubt its credibility and 
to adopt the usual SNP Monty Python Black Knight stance.
