Bad timing

The political parties have no right to flout the Scottish constitutional requirement to elect the Parliament every four years.

The Holyrood elections should be held in 2015. It would make practical sense for them to be held on the same date as the Westminster elections.

And let’s not be told that the electorate would be bamboozled by having to cast two votes at the same time.

In fact, it might concentrate minds, not least among the candidates.
