Aye speed train

HS2 is touted as the panacea for our economic ills, bringing 100,000 new jobs. Aye right! This will be the Ryanair of the railways in England, with stations so far out of town that the combined rail/bus/taxi will take as long to reach the centres as the existing train journey.

One hundred thousand non-permanent jobs over 20 years? Better spend the cash improving capacity on the existing east and west coast lines now. As for Scotland, the proposed HS line between Edinburgh and Glasgow is a joke, more so if Scotland votes for independence.
