Aye, doe

As if hen parties weren’t dreadful enough – what with the enforced fun and discomfort they cause to innocent passersby – they now cost an average of £185 (your report, 6 June).

I’d pay double that to get rid of the awful word “hen”, which is insulting. If a man attending these events can be a stag, a woman can be a doe.
