Art of mediocrity

Bill Jamieson’s article (22 August) was a blistering critique of the aptitude for numptitude that many of our politicians (local and national) bring to the table in the context of huge, publicly funded, transport and construction projects.

Arguably, if we took the multiple talents of our politicians, piled ’em high, exposed them to scientific classification and 
processed them through the world’s most sophisticated computer system, it is most unlikely that we would find enough meaningful substance to construct the prototype of a primitive nonentity.

That, inter alia, explains why distressed taxpayers will continue, in perpetuity, to fund, out of the pittance that now passes for a living wage, the delusions of politicians who have turned fundamental mediocrity into an art form.
