Arrogant banks

In response to Joyce McMillan (Perspective, 22 May), banks give those opposed to free markets a bad name since they are either nationalised or have had their losses subsidised.

By rewarding failure with taxpayers’ money, governments have, in effect, told banks they are immune from the laws of economics.

Is it any wonder then, that banks behave so arrogantly?
