Arrogance of SNP

Angus Robertson MP, in advising that the Westminster SNP representation will vote against the government on fox hunting, declares that “he wants to remind an arrogant UK government of just how slender their majority is”. With this simple comment including his narrative on English Votes for English Laws (EVEL) and the Scotland Bill, he highlights the utter lack of principles within his party.

It was only on 8 February 2015, less than six months ago, that Nicola Sturgeon in an article in the Guardian declared that “the SNP have a long-standing position of not voting on matters that purely affect England – such as foxhunting south of the Border, for example – and we stand by that”.

The First Minister promised constructive involvement in the legislative process in England, but this decision will simply harden the resolve of the Conservative government to introduce EVEL which the SNP are so against.

The time is fast approaching – the Scottish election on 5 May next year, to be precise – to remind an arrogant SNP that their electoral majority is not set in stone.
