Are we there yet?

There are strict rules with 
regard to the announcement of a general election and the period of campaigning.

It is becoming abundantly clear that the similar restrictions should now be applied to referendums.

Initially it was quite exciting to have the opportunity to debate the benefits and drawbacks of independence over a prolonged period.

However, it is now clear that we need to make up our minds relatively quickly and move on to the next stage in the independence process.

Consequently, all future referendums should be held within a two-month time frame from the date that the referendum is declared.
