Airport charges

Malcolm Robertson of BAA London (Letters, 3 August) failed to explain why passengers at Edinburgh Airport have been singled out by BAA to be subjected to a deeply unpopular drop-off charge.

As far as I am aware, there are no drop-off charges at other BAA airports in the UK. How do Glasgow, Aberdeen, Southampton, Stansted and Heathrow cope without such a charge?
