Absence noted

I’m bemused by Lesley Riddoch’s claim (Perspective, 8 December) that “nothing became Alex Salmond like the manner of his going”.

On the Sunday after the referendum, there was a Service of Reconciliation in Edinburgh. This had been flagged up for weeks beforehand and was attended by all of the leaders of the major political parties in Scotland. All, except the SNP. Neither Alex Salmond nor Nicola Sturgeon could be bothered to attend. Sour grapes or what?
