A worse scandal

The Liberal Democrats have revealed that the Scottish Government spent £56,000 on potted plants and flowers last year – an outrage, they claim, when many are having to tighten the purse strings (your report, 26 December).

I am sure many would agree, but the real outrage this Christmas, and something the Lib Dems as part of the coalition government should be shouting outrage about, was the error at the Department of Work and Pensions which resulted in many benefit claimants not receiving the payments they were entitled to before Christmas.

It would be good to hear outrage expressed by the Lib Dems in Scotland about those who were forced, due to no fault of their own, to do without this Christmas.
