Theatre let-down
Often all we could see was a bare stage, with occasionally some of the cast straining to move heavy scenery around, while the real action apparently took place on an apron stage in front of the orchestra pit, seen only by those in the dress circle and stalls.
I had hoped to see and hear a major performance of a rarely performed opera. Instead, despite some fine singing, I was left feeling angry and disgusted. How can a director treat the public with such contempt?
