The Scottish Government yesterday outlined its legislative plans for the coming months as MSPs returned to Holyrood.

Plans to end automatic early release for the most violent criminals, including sex offenders, were announced by Alex Salmond as he unveiled the Scottish Government’s legislative programme for the coming year.

The First Minister announced 13 new pieces of legislation to be introduced at Holyrood, including a law to end the right to buy for council and housing association tenants and a licensing regime for air weapons.
