ALEX Salmond has been accused of trying win independence for Scotland through the back door.

The former First Minister used his first major interview since the referendum to state that his campaigning for a seat at Westminster was designed to try and help Scotland get home rule.

Although Salmond insisted his reasons were not to fight for another referendum, he does appear unwilling to take ‘No’ for an answer.
