The life of Reilly

I hope Hugh Reilly’s article (Perspective, 16 August) does not represent all our educators.

To summarise, he appears to believe that not only must you indulge in large glasses of Pinot Grigio to have a positive attitude towards the Curriculum For Excellence but that all young male teachers are homosexual; all young female teachers are more interested in finding a male partner (obviously not interested in educating children); and that all primary one children are overweight and their parents clearly lazy, to name but a few of his cynical outdated comments.

I think Mr Reilly should be increasing his dose of Valium if “once more into the breach” is his outlook on educating children.

Perhaps he did not enjoy his seven-week holiday?

If these are truly his jaundiced, narrow-minded views of teaching, perhaps it is time he took his “retirement package” to spend more time in divorcee bars.
