In tribute to the crisp, revellers at the Hive nightclub on Niddry Street have been invited to wear tinfoil hats and paint themselves green, with staff handing out free alien masks.

Celebrations will culminate with the dance floor being showered in bags of Space Raiders once the clock hits midnight.

Bar tenders have also devised special alien-themed drinks for the night on Wednesday. However, that’s where the similarity with Space Raiders will end – there’s no way you can get a drink in Edinburgh for 10p.

Modern Warfare 3 has been hotly anticipated among gamers for some time.

But one confused shopper said: “Modern warfare? That’s what we witness at the “reduced” section in here every single day.”

Ewan McVicar, one of the organisers of the Forrest Road concert, urged anyone who may know her to get in touch. It was her appearance at the Edinburgh Festival Ceilidh in 1951 which put her name on the Edinburgh map.

Organisers hope if she’s found she will settle for a 1950s fee.
