THE Glasgow Film Festival this week set down a marker for the Capital’s own film event to follow after unveiling an eye-catching line-up of events and screenings, and sparking a frenzied guessing-game over exactly what First Minister Alex Salmond’s guilty pleasure of a movie would be.

Never one to be beaten, Edinburgh has shown it is still the king of the Silver Screen – and for proof film fans need turn their lenses no further than the Cameo Cinema.

A personal favourite of Quentin Tarantino, the arthouse cinema will be getting an extra gold-star from the renowned director as it will be the only cinema in Scotland – and one of just five in the UK – to screen his latest epic Django Unchained (with Jamie Foxx, pictured) in its 35mm format, with the first 500 viewers getting limited edition badges.

Judy Murray entered a competition to have breakfast with Pat Rafter – and tweeted that she was so keen she had been “pressing resend since 8am”.

Krispy Kreme is gearing up for the opening of Hermiston Gait’s “Hot Store” with a doughnut blitz, and their selection of sweet treats, which kept Talk of the Town staff well fed, will be hitting the streets next month.
