Talk of the Town: Syne of good times at Hogmanay

AN Edinburgh chef is bringing back the traditional Hogmanay house party by inviting 15 strangers to her home for a bash “just like Granny threw”.

Wendy Paterson’s Inside Out Chef Supper Club will see guests treated to home-made dishes including stovies and lasagne, desserts and nibbles – along with typical Hogmanay party music.

Revellers will party at her Fairmilehead home until the wee small hours.

THEY may be hundreds of years old but it doesn’t stop them keeping up with the times.

He said: “The Mrs has already started banging on about ‘decorating the place’ I ‘ain’t doing no decorating, I’m a celebrity”.

But the attractions are additions to a George Street clothing store – earning it a chance to win the title of store design of the year.

White Stuff’s city centre store features a phone box that enables customers to order online if a product is unavailable in store, a magic mirror that allows shoppers to send pictures to Facebook, and Narnia-style dressing rooms that are designed to look like wardrobes but which open into themed rooms.

The shop is up against nine others from across the UK in the Oracle Retail Week awards 2012.
