Talk of the Town: Rory’s class act is festival fodder

HE’S used to serving up hilarious takes of the rich and famous – but in his latest role he’s just serving.

Edinburgh-born impressionist Rory Bremner is to make his theatrical debut, playing a butler in a revival of Noel Coward’s Relative Values alongside Caroline Quentin and Patricia Hodge.

The play, set in the 1950s, is about the culture clash between the world of Hollywood film stars and the English aristocracy.

The comic – who provided voices for Spitting Image in the early days of his career – will appear in the play, directed by Sir Trevor Nunn, at the Theatre Royal in Bath in June . . . which gives him plenty of time to haul the show home for an appearance at the Festival.

KRISPY Kreme, the Capital’s shop de jour, has applied for a 5am catering licence – and not before time.

According to staff at the US doughnut chain’s branch at Hermiston Gait, residents are so desperate they have been turning up at all hours.

One stunned worker posted on Facebook: “We have drivers coming up in the middle of the night to see if we are open but we are closed! Although the staff are in processing doughnuts!”
