Louis the Osprey is back! The super-star avian influencer arrived at his nest on Loch Arkaig, just north of Fort William, at precisely 3.18pm on Thursday, with the cameras there to capture his unfashionably early arrival. He wasn’t actually wearing shades, but he might as well have been.

For those unaware of genuine osprey power-couple Louis and Dorcha – somehow inexplicably not known as Loucha or, er, Doris – they became a global sensation during the Covid lockdowns, with their livestream racking up hundreds of thousands of hits.

‘King’ Louis had not been expected until next month, catching staff at the Woodland Trust Scotland “on the hop”. But perhaps he’s heard about the fame of Kingussie Kong – the monkey who escaped from the zoo – and Gary the Gorilla, who hit the headlines after he was shockingly cut in half (not quite as bad as it sounds, he’s made of plastic).

Some big stars just can’t stop themselves succumbing to a bit of jealousy when others hog the limelight for too long.
