A MAJOR rise in Glasgow business trade as a result of the Commonwealth Games has far surpassed previous expectations.

With the Games now at half way point, the influx of tourism into the city has tripled the revenue of Glasgow hotels and also resulted in a business boom for taxis and retailers.

City restaurants are also benefitting from the carnival atmosphere of the games, with many selling out of food or having to replenish stock on Sunday night following increases of at least 25 per cent in sales.
