Leader: Wha’s like us… Lulu

CRAIG Revel Horwood says she can “move very, very well”, while she claims she’s “half-expecting the body to crumble”. Either way, Lulu is unlikely to be a dull contestant on the nation’s premier trotting contest, as Strictly Come Dancing returns to our screens for a new series.

So ageless in appearance that her name is now a verb meaning to look young (“And how do you lulu?”), the lass from Lennoxtown, now 62, claims to follow a rigorous but simple beauty routine, although has admitted in the past to having “been there, done that and got the T-shirt” when it comes to Botox.

She has confessed to being ”terrified” of the waltz; partly, she says, because it’s so technical. But with her nippy-sweetie, no-nonsense attitude, honed after almost 50 years in the business of show, she is unlikely to take any criticism lying down. And with a musical background and even Revel Horwood admitting that she’s “in with a good chance”, she may just dance her way to victory.

It’s enough, as she herself might say, to make you want to shout.
