John Gibson: Trawling my files for this pic of Tracey

Sunk without Tracey? Don’t you believe it. Tracey Robertson raised loadsamoney for charity when I knew her and we were much in touch.

Now I learn that she is still circulating, as general manager of the Minto Hotel in Newington.

When we were matey she was wife of Hearts striker John Robertson. Robbo, subsequently manager of Livingston, was the hero for the Jambos.

On the other side of town he was a proper pain in the ass, the goal-grabber who took a terrible toll on Hibernian.

Tracey is gracing the column today in the Gibcress Files, an occasional series. Back in her fundraising prime, she raised £21,000 in one year from a dinner she fronted at the Gorgie Suite at Tyencastle in a memorial event for her mum and, the following year at the same venue, for the same charity, she pulled in a gob-smacking £32,500 (a David Beckham shirt fetched £4000).

To be honest, Tracey is decorating the column today because this affords the opportunity to reproduce my favourite picture of her, snapped in the Gorgie Suite on one of her memorable nights.

Did I ogle her in this outfit? Don’t mind admitting it, yes. But it was worth the six months, two months off for good behaviour.

Afterwords . .

. . . for my eyes, poster plastered to an Edinburgh bus stop: Waitrose Profit From Israel’s War Crimes.

I’ve no wish to get involved.
