First off, Luke Evans stars in Dracula Untold, a bloody, breakneck, supernatural horror about the early days of the fictional vampire.

The back story established of this blood-sucker, however, is miles apart from Bram Stoker’s original in his 1897 novel. Still, the trailer promises action in spades and the talented Evans is more than capable of delivering.

Swimming back after its successful debut, everyone’s favourite dolphin, Winter, returns in Dolphin Tale 2.

With the original cast back for a second helping, audiences are sure to lap up this family-friendly offering from Charles Martin Smith as much as they did first time around.

If you’d prefer something sporty, there’s Draft Day, a sports drama that looks behind the scenes of America’s NFL - National Football League. A movie that generally went unnoticed in America when it was released in April, it picked up good reviews from the critics who favoured its old-fashioned sensibility and strong cast.

If you visit your local cinema this weekend, then at least one of those films is likely to satisfy your appetite.

But wait... there’s a film I haven’t mentioned yet, and it is perhaps the most important.

After the English language adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, David Fincher returns with another adaptation, this time of Gillian Flynn’s best-selling novel Gone Girl.

Scripted by Flynn herself and starring future Batman Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike, the film, if anything at all like the book, will test your nerves, keep you on your toes and entertain you from start to finish.
