One fatality in car crash

A MAN was killed and another injured after their car crashed into a tree this morning.

Kevin Pryde, 30, of Polbeth died following a single vehicle collision on the Livingston to Blackburn section of the B7015, near to the junction with Wester Breich Road.

He was the front seat passenger in the car, driven by a 22-year-old man, who was injured and taken to hospital.

The vehicle left the road at around 12.50am and collided with a tree. Despite the best efforts of paramedics from the Scottish Ambulance Service, Mr Pryde died from his injuries at the scene after being cut from the car.

The road was closed for several hours to allow specialist accident investigators from Lothian and Borders Police to carry out enquiries.

A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.
