Old Grey Whistle Test is back - on radio

CLASSIC BBC music show the Old Grey Whistle Test is to live again - on radio.

The show, which was hosted by Bob Harris, Annie Nightingale and Mark Ellen among others, championed numerous underground and cutting-edge acts before they found fame.

Now Radio 2 is to broadcast a 16-part series featuring some of the classic moments, as well as new performances from artists associated with the show.

The Radio 2 series is to mark OGWT's 40th anniversary this year and will be hosted by Harris. He said: "Making this series for Radio 2 is proving to be a heart-warming and exciting experience.

Among those who will take part in a "massive reunion" are Sir Elton John, Alice Cooper, Roger Daltrey and Paul Weller.
