Officers set to spread wings on Twitter

THE safer neighbourhood team based at St Leonard’s police station are set to become the first local officers in the force area to send out updates via Twitter.

The officers will “tweet” on community issues on the social media site.

The Lothian and Borders Police force already has a Twitter account, which has around 6000 subscribers.

Sergeant Steven Duncan welcomed the chance for officers at St Leonard’s to use Twitter to update local residents.

He said: “This is a great opportunity for local police to reach a wide and diverse population in the St Leonard’s area.

“Twitter allows us to engage with local people and keep them up to date with news and information that matters to them.”
