The officers will “tweet” on community issues on the social media site.
The Lothian and Borders Police force already has a Twitter account, which has around 6000 subscribers.

Hide AdSergeant Steven Duncan welcomed the chance for officers at St Leonard’s to use Twitter to update local residents.
He said: “This is a great opportunity for local police to reach a wide and diverse population in the St Leonard’s area.
“Twitter allows us to engage with local people and keep them up to date with news and information that matters to them.”
