Officers face snake threat

A MAN threatened police officers with a baby python when they went to question him about excessive noise, a court has heard.

Edinburgh Sheriff Court was told Xavier Blaze, 32, wrapped the snake around his neck and waved it in the faces of the police officers.

The court heard he also shouted and swore at officers. He was arrested and taken to St Leonard's police station, where he continued to shout and swear and be uncooperative.

Blaze, of Flat 3, 38 Oxgangs Avenue, admitted breaching the peace on December 13, 2009.

Defence agent Jonathan Campbell said Blaze had a history of mental difficulties and was currently receiving help.

Sheriff Derrick McIntyre deferred sentence until next month for background reports.
