IT was more a case of ‘why the long face’ than the long arm of the law after an inquisitive horse wandered into a police station in Cheshire from a nearby field.
CCTV at the Cheshire Police headquarters in Winsford showed the four-legged visitor meander up to the automatic doors, ignoring a man’s attempts to shoo it away.
The horse then disappears off-camera before coming back and exiting the police station, nabbing a kind word and a stroke from a passing officer on the way.
The equestrian visitor was safely escorted back to his nearby paddock.
A spokesperson from Cheshire Police said: “During the early hours of the morning on Monday 6th of October, a local resident decided to check out Police HQ and was captured on CCTV.
“Security staff at HQ were quick off the mark to greet a horse that had decided to investigate the HQ.
“The brown and white horse resides in a field near the HQ and was quickly escorted back to its residence having investigated the goings on at HQ.”
