Objections over house licence bid

AN application for a new house in multiple occupancy (HMO) licence off the Meadows has attracted two objections.

Property owner Roy Dawson has applied for permission for four occupants to live in his first-floor flat at Lauriston Gardens.

Councillors are due to make a decision on whether to grant the licence at a meeting of the licensing sub-committee of the city council's regulatory committee on Friday.

In one objection lodged, Lauriston Gardens resident Jenny Wang said there were already problems with noise in the area.

She said: "Please seriously consider our objections as yet another multiple occupancy flat and the further increase in noise levels that this entails will have an extremely detrimental effect on the quality of the day-to-day lives of both my family and other residents of these flats."

Another resident, Rhonda Greig, said that she has suffered "years of problems" due to noise, littering and antisocial behaviour.
