Obama to 'keep up pressure' on Karzai

Barack Obama yesterday vowed to keep up the pressure on Afghan president Hamid Karzai to clean up corruption in his government.

The US president said a successful Afghan government had to be seen as clean and fair; there had been some progress, but not enough. Mr Karzai has bristled at what he sees as heavy-handed US pressure.
